About CalcEnough

CalcEnough is a collection of free calculators for home improvement and construction projects. Each one answers the questions you have in the store aisle: how much material does this job need, how much should I buy once waste is allowed for, and what will it cost?

Why we built it

Most online calculators stop at a single number: so many cubic yards, so many square feet. Real projects need more than that. Concrete comes in 80 lb bags or quarter-yard truckloads; flooring comes in boxes; paint in quarts, gallons and buckets; carpet off a 12 ft roll. Our calculators show the exact quantity, the allowance for waste, and what to actually buy, rounded to the way the material is sold, with the working shown at every step.

How the calculators work

  • Transparent: every result shows its formula with your numbers filled in, and lists the assumptions behind it.
  • Your figures win: wherever a product label or supplier has a better number, such as coverage per gallon or weight per yard, you can enter it.
  • Tested: every formula is checked by automated tests against hand-worked examples, in US and metric units.
  • Free and private: no sign-up, no email gate, and the calculators don’t need or store personal information.

The defaults, sources and rounding rules are all listed on our methodology page.

What we don’t do

Our calculators estimate quantities and costs for planning. They don’t design structures, size footings, beams, gutters or electrical systems, or replace manufacturer instructions, an engineer or your local building code.
